We like to carry out from this place. We usually get the beef and mushroom dinner. For some reason we really like this dinner. The mushrooms are big and fleshy.  Other than that we haven't tried much else.  We do come back to this place from time to time, especially when it is late and we want a quick bite to eat. Their prices are decent and they seem like friendly folks.

This place used to be passable. A few years ago. But goddam. I don't think I've ever eaten Chinese food quite this bad in my entire life. Where do I start?

General Tso Chicken. Legit tasted 100% like they used Frank's Red Hot Sauce on it. As if that wasnt shocking enough, the tofu fried rice had the greasiest, blandest tasting tofu ever to scourge my bowels. One bite into a piece and it was an explosion of dirty oil in my mouth. Roughly 3 sad looking soggy bean sprouts, and gummy overcooked rice completed the dish.

Yuuuuuuummy...wait, I meant scummy. Which is how my intestines felt after receiving a gut blast of Frank's Red Hot Sauce and stale, cheap cooking oil.

Skip this one unless you've got Colon Cleanse xD in bulk, on hand.

I ordered Lo Mein noodles extra vegetables and chicken.
    Shrimp egg rolls.

What was prepared and delivered to me were congealed Cantonese noodles with Chop Suey sauce, 1/2 cup of vegetables and 5 cups of sadness, sorrow and pain.

Chewed one forkful and decided to eat water for dinner.

I'm not even gonna start about this light skinned, cold chewy egg roll they sent me...

I'm done. Nicky's never was the best but it just has continued to slide over the years with food quality and taste.

Best of luck to whoever continues to keep this place open. Won't be me or my credit card any longer!

2nd time coming here, last time coming here. I'll begin with the food. The problem: when I asked for spicy egg food young and spicy fried rice, did I really just receive just hot sauce dashed on it in return? I don't know whether to take it as out of the box thinking or be insulted. I've eaten Chinese takeout all my life , never received hot sauce dashed on the food to supplement for real pepper flakes or whatever they actually use. Second problem was the attitude. Dry, questionable customer experience. Eye contact with a customer is the first when they're giving you their order. After you've already presented an unwelcoming experience the next thing that shouldn't happen Is obnoxious laughter between the people behind the counter. Yeah, way to let people know you appreciate their business! It's a wrap.

It's seldom that I write one-star reviews, but it happens.

What bothers me most is not the potential of hurting a small business, but (in this case) that I can't give negative stars.

I made the mistake of kvetching (and rightfully so) about the (egregiously) late delivery of my meal.

I also complained about my (cold and essentially inedible) order.

The owner not only refused to comp the cold mess sent to me, but then told me that he (!!!) did not need my business.

I'd rather gobble up my own pancreas with soy sauce and stale fortune cookies than give this awful place one red cent of my hard earned money.

Hyde Park can do way better than this abominable excuse for a restaurant.
